The Counselling Relationship            Areas of counselling I practice

Hi there, and welcome to a dedicated space for therapeutic exploration. Here, I hope you will begin a journey towards better understanding yourself.

I provide compassionate psychotherapy. A graduate of the University of Edinburgh with a master's in counselling, I focus on a psychodynamic and person centred practice. My aim is to create a nurturing environment where clients feel safe and supported. My approach is rooted in empathy and understanding, allowing for genuine connections that facilitate healing.

Together, we will work to process feelings and difficult experiences through exploring and challenging beliefs in a safe environment.
Our goal is to be more present in the day to day and less consumed by our difficult thoughts and emotions.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Counselling/Therapy?

Counselling and therapy are often interchangable words. The therapy I offer is rooted in psychodynamic theory in which the relationship utilizes exploring difficult experiences and emotions safely to help to process these emotions and move forward. Healing is a felt experience we can facilitate by processing in a safe environment that allows us to navigate daily life in a more mangable way. The goal is to be present and less haunted or consumed by our diffiucult feelings.

How long does therapy typically last?

A therapy session lasts 50 minutes.

The amount of sessions you have is up to you. Many clients do long term work and meet weekly for months or more. But short term counselling can also serve people very well especially if it is their first experience of therapy.

Every six weeks I do a review where we reflect on what we've covered and where we'd like to go. In these reviews we can discuss next steps.

What can I expect from my first session?

In your first session, we will connect and discuss your goals and what brought you to therapy. It's a chance for you to share your story and what challenges you're facing. I share a "Therapy Agreement" which helps to outline what to expect and how navigate practicalties and expectations of the counselling relationship.

Do you offer remote sessions?

Yes, I offer remote sessions via a straightforward online meeting platform that I send a link for to prior to our sessions. I work with clients locally and internationally through this medium.

What is your availability?

This varies and I try to keep my website updated. I currently have office hours and online sessions available in the evenings.

What are the fees?

I believe in affordable and accsessable mental health support.

I provide counselling sessions for £50 per session

I offer a concession rate of £40 per session for students and people who are unemployed or have refugee status.

“ I feel understood and empowered after working through my triggers and more in control of my emotions. I'm very grateful.”
